Become a Logistics Supervisor at Woodcock and Wilson

Reports To: Operations Director 
Job Type: Full-time / Permanent 
Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
 
We are seeking a full time proactive and hands-on Logistics Supervisor to coordinate and support all aspects of outbound and inbound logistics, including despatch, packing, export documentation, and vehicle loading. This role is critical to ensuring the timely and compliant shipment of goods to within the UK and internationally. The successful candidate will work closely with internal departments and external freight partners, while also taking an active role in physical despatch operations.

Skills and Qualifications you will need:

  • Proven experience in a logistics, despatch, or transport supervisory role
  • Working knowledge of UK, EU, and international export procedures and documentation including INCOTERMS
  • Familiarity with ERP or warehouse management systems
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work across departments and external partners.
  • Sound understanding of health & safety, manual handling, and warehouse best practices.
 
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of post-Brexit customs procedures and Incoterms.
  • Forklift truck (FLT) licence and hands-on experience in vehicle loading/unloading.
  • Experience in working with freight forwarders and customs brokers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shipping Coordination: Plan and manage daily despatches and collections to and from customers and suppliers across the UK and international destinations. Ensure all shipments are prepared accurately and dispatched on time, aligned with customer requirements and internal production schedules.
  • Export Documentation & Compliance: Prepare, check, and manage all relevant export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, Incoterms, and customs declarations. Ensure compliance with current trade and customs regulations, including post-Brexit export controls and country-specific requirements.
  • Hands-On Despatch & Loading: Supervise and actively participate in the wrapping, packing, and labelling of goods to ensure proper protection during transit. Operate forklift trucks (FLT) and overhead cranes to load and unload vehicles safely, ensuring weight limits, load security, and site safety standards are met.
  • Quality & Inspection Liaison: Work closely with quality assurance and inspection teams to ensure all goods are released in accordance with specifications and company standards before shipment.
  • ERP & Records Management: Use the company’s ERP system to generate shipping documents, maintain despatch records, and update delivery status. Ensure that all logistics data is accurate and up to date for traceability, reporting, and audit purposes.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with production, sales, and customer service teams to align logistics activity with business priorities and respond to urgent despatch needs. Contribute to the continuous improvement of logistics processes, cost control, and delivery performance. Stay informed of changes in export legislation, customs requirements, and shipping best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and operational efficiency.
